Safeguards

Play Therapy UK is the largest organization in the UK specialising in children's emotional wellbeing, and it provides guidelines for the safety of children receiving play therapy. 

I comply with all of these:

  • I work within PTUK's ethical framework

  • I am on the Register of Play and Creative Arts Therapists that has been accredited by the Professional Standards Authority

  • I have an up-to-date, enhanced CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) Check

  • I have completed the play therapy training programme recognized by PTUK

  • I receive regular clinical supervision of my play therapy practice

  • I conduct the sessions in a safe environment

  • I have professional liability insurance

  • I use clinical governance (quality control) procedures, i.e.

    • pre- and post- therapy assessment

    • regular reporting

    • feedback from teachers, parents and referrers

  • I undertake regular professional training to stay up to date
